Scope of Work
Aircon Gas Top-up might be required after you have done regular maintenance activities with your air conditioner.
When it comes to upgrading air conditioner power, you should know there are two kinds of top-ups in Singapore. We have both the refrigerants R22 and R40.
The R22 is intended mainly for use on old systems. The R40 is for use in versions of the newer generation. After testing the air conditioner in use in your home or business premise, the technician gets to decide what refrigerant to use.
As described earlier, if you have leaky pipes or when there is a gas leak in your air conditioner system, a lack of refrigerant also comes around. Leakage causes the air-conditioner to work harder than usual to keep delivering cool air to your house.
If you find that your house has unexpectedly become warm and the air conditioner unit is working, it means the refrigerant gas may have run out of service.

How It Works
An air conditioner uses liquid or gas as an air refrigerant which is supplied to cool a room or space. Freon or Puron are examples of such chemicals found inside the air-conditioner refrigerants.
In most situations, cooling chemicals inside an air-conditioner’s refrigerant do not get used up during the unit’s service life. Nevertheless, there are situations in which the refrigerant tank leaks and the solvent eventually empties the container out.
An aircon gas top up is an opportunity to re-fill your air-conditioner’s refrigerant storage tank with the chemical gas coolant used. The aircon mechanic first takes care of the hole or damage that allows the fluid to leak and then topping up to fill the newly patched container with refrigerating gas.
This technique will keep the air-conditioner cooling cycle running. It is also important to upgrade your refrigerant if possible to avoid the complete failure of your AC system due to low refrigerant gas levels.
Why Should You Check and Top Up Gas

The Process of Top Up Gas
Aircon gas top-ups can only be carried out by a qualified technician in an appropriate and secure manner. They use a scale within your air-conditioning unit to test for refrigerant level. It will tell them how much gas must be loaded into the refrigerant tank.
A refrigerant tank is used to pump gas into the air-conditioner to return to normal gas levels. This will be checked back using the gas gauge to verify that there is enough refrigerant inside your AC. Your Aircon technician can use just the right form of gas to refill your supply of refrigerants. Using an R410 tank on an R22 tank, and vice versa, is not safe. Besides that, the technician will also prescribe repairs to the refrigerant device if it has damaged so it no longer leaks. Many faulty components need to be tested to ensure unit health.
Checking Refrigerant Level
A gas monitor will be used to test the refrigerant level indoors before gas top up aircon. This method will decide how much gas is required for the refrigerant storage to be filled.
Determining Gas Type and Aircon Gas Refill
Proper refilling requires the right form of gas being used. Using a refrigerant tank, if the form of gas is calculated, the refrigerant storage of your air condition unit will be refilled with the volume of gas needed so that the gas level returns to normal.
Rechecking Refrigerant Level
Your refrigerant storage must be reassessed using a gas gauge to ensure proper refrigerant is within your air conditioner unit. Otherwise, once the gas level is regular, we will inject aircon gas into your storage.
Repairing and Further Safety Checks
The refrigerant will also be tested for any damages to avoid any gas leakage to ensure protection of the entire device. Many damaged parts will be tested and replaced if necessary and nothing will be missed.

When should I top-up my aircon gas?
It depends on various factors that might require you to top up the gas on your AC. Usually you need to recycle gas after the device has been patched, or if there are issues with your AC. If your AC does not cold even after being switched on for a longer period and if there is ice in the refrigerant lines you may need some re-gassing.
